Birmingham, AL – The Birmingham City Council today voted to adopt the 2014 City of Birmingham Legislative Agenda.
The adoption of the agenda comes before a second work session scheduled with state lawmakers this Thursday and the 2014 session of the Alabama State Legislature begins next Tuesday, January 14.
Council President Johnathan Austin has convened school board members, the Mayor, city councilors, members of the Birmingham Transit Authority and Water Works Board for this second work session with state lawmakers to be held this Thursday, January 9, at the Birmingham Crossplex at 10:30 a.m.
The first work session was held on December 13, at which the council and school board members presented a combined agenda to a few of the local legislative delegation. The council held an Administration Committee meeting this past Friday to finalize the priorities for the agenda.
“Having one legislative agenda to present is the most important thing we can do for the city,” said Council President Johnathan Austin. “We gathered all the requests from each entity and will present it together as one team, one voice.”
