BIRMINGHAM, AL- Council Pro Tem Jay Roberson makes it a priority to empower the youth in the City of Birmingham on a consistent basis. His tenacity won’t stop as he kicks off the “District 7 Back to School Rally and Shoe Distribution” in partnership with Samaritan’s Feet Inc., on Sunday August 10th from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2135 Jefferson Avenue Southwest, Birmingham, AL 35211.

“I believe in all the youth of Birmingham as they strive to succeed during their most important years of learning,“ Councilor Roberson said. “It’s important to cultivate their energy and anticipation of starting a new school year through these back to school initiatives.”

Samaritan’s Feet, Inc. is a non-profit organization based out of Charlotte, NC who partners with community initiatives to distribute shoes to children within the United States and around the world. Council Pro Tem Roberson has worked extensively with Samaritan’s Feet over the last five years, distributing over 10,000 pair of shoes in the greater Birmingham area.

“I am looking forward to partnering on this event with Councilor Roberson to provide children with school supplies, as well as new shoes,” Michael Wesley, pastor of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church said. “Having spent 26 years in the Birmingham school system, as a teacher, principal, and central office worker, I know the importance of students being prepared for the school year.”
