BIRMINGHAM, AL– As fall sets in, here’s your chance to enjoy the beautiful weather at a great event that the entire family can enjoy. Birmingham City Council President Johnathan Austin will kick off the 73rd annual Magic City Classic by hosting the fifth annual District 5 Fun Day. The event will take place, Sunday, October, 19, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Railroad Park. Attendees will have the chance to enjoy a jazz showcase featuring nationally renowned jazz artists Fayth Hope and Jarez with On Top of the World. While the adults will be able to enjoy great music, children will have the chance to enjoy thrilling carnival rides, and lots of interactive activities. The excitement doesn’t stop there, as guests will have the chance to win tons of gifts and prizes, and best of all it’s all FREE!

“Our District 5 Fun Day in the Park always brings hundreds of residents out to celebrate all that the city of Birmingham has to offer,” Council President Austin said. “Each year it gets bigger and better and this year won’t be an exception, I’m looking forward to it all.”

Council President Austin started hosting the annual fun day in 2010 and he soon after partnered with Magic City Smooth Jazz, a staple showcase of various jazz artists who always give their audiences smooth sultry sounds.

While music is a big highlight for the event, there will be a lot of other activities for the community to enjoy

“I really wanted this event to include a variety of wholesome services for the community to be involved in,” Council President Austin said. “We want to give them the whole package.”
