City Leaders Preparing to Market the City in Bremem, Germany
BIRMINGHAM, AL – With the recent announcement that Mercedes–Benz will expand their production in Alabama, Birmingham city leaders are hoping to use their continued success to lure other automobile companies and suppliers to the area. Birmingham City Mayor Bell, Council President Johnathan Austin, and Councilor Steven Hoyt will travel to Bremem, Germany Sunday to meet with potential automobile companies. The weeklong trip will include several meetings that will allow city leaders to share the success of companies like Mercedes-Benz, and BLG.
“The scope of what Birmingham has to offer is really expanding, and we are using every chance we get to market our city to international companies,” President Austin said. “Being able to meet face-to-face with these companies, gives us the opportunity to have in-depth conversations about the possibilities of them bringing their businesses to Birmingham.”
In preparation for their trip, city leaders recently met locally with officials from the Mercedes-Benz plant to discuss how they can continue to improve their relationship. While the plant is in Tuscaloosa County, Birmingham has worked closely with officials to ensure the success of the company in a manner that is felt statewide.
“We’ve had a tremendous amount of success in Alabama, and I would love to see more suppliers that we use come to this area,” said Mercedes-Benz President and ÇEO Jason Hoff. “The opportunities that new businesses bring stretch wide and can have a huge economic impact on the community.”
