Diversity in the Workplace Press Conference This Morning

BIRMINGHAM, AL- The Birmingham City Council is starting their Monday off with some healthy food and a little exercise. Exercise in diversity that is. Council President Johnathan Austin will be a part of the “Equality is Our Business” press conference this morning Monday, March 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. to discuss the extension of rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. It will take place at Continental Bakery, 1820 4th Ave. N. in Birmingham.
“It is important to have diversity in the workplace,” says President Austin. “Alabama and Birmingham businesses will be helped with non-discrimination ordinances.”
“Equality is Our Business” is a concerted effort by businesses and individuals to advance workplace equality and equal treatment in housing and public accommodations for LGBT individuals and their allies. The Equality pledge was created by the Human Rights Campaign, America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality.
