New Freedom Center in Birmingham will honor the constitution, military veterans and the civil rights movement
Birmingham will honor those who have fought for freedom with a new $10 million state-of-the-art building. The Freedom Center is out to join the tourism ranks of world renowned landscapes, archeological remains, national parks and even royal palaces. It will be under consideration to be one of UNESCO’S World Heritage Sites since Birmingham’s contribution to human rights makes it universally significant. If chosen, the civil rights trail and other historically significant spots around the state, like Montgomery and Selma, would be among the places people would be encouraged to visit. The Freedom Center Public Policy Building will be an international symbol for freedom by honoring the constitution, military veterans and the civil rights movement. Plans also include renovating the neighboring A.G.Gaston Motel. For more information about everything the Birmingham City Council is doing visit www.birminghamalcitycouncil.org.
