Council changes parking ordinances to cut down on predatory towing in parking lots
It can be difficult to strike a balance between property owner’s rights and drivers desperate to park during the height of summer activities throughout the city. But the Birmingham City Council is taking on that challenge. They unanimously approved strengthening a parking lot ordinance to ensure people are clear about when and where they can park. In order to eliminate predatory booting and towing, lots must have an attendant on duty at all times. If not, a lock box must be provided that is well-lit and clearly seen in all directions that provides a receipt.
