BIRMINGHAM, AL- School may be coming to an end soon, but Birmingham City Councilor Sheila Tyson wants to make sure that when the next school year rolls around, students in the Loveman Village community will be prepared for new beginnings. Councilor Tyson will join Sixth Avenue Baptist Church to host the Hope Fair today, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Loveman Village Community Center and Basketball Court.
The Sixth Avenue Sliders will kick off line dancing at 10am and groove to the latest dance moves to help others stay in shape. Citizens can also expect to receive a variety of goods and resources and participate in workshops vital to the community including free clothing, blood pressure checks, jobs info and children’s activities with teen talks with opportunities for free gift cards.
“I’m excited to be a part of this health fair initiative and give back to our constituents,” Councilor Tyson said. “Citizens need to know that we care about their health and well-being and that they get the proper attention through our collective efforts in providing resources. We can only thrive when the community thrives.”
