Bike friendly Birmingham- 400 bikes will be available to commuters when a bikeshare program launches this fall
The biking trend in Birmingham is booming with a high tech transportation option launching in August 2015. The city is introducing a bikeshare program offering 400 bikes that can be picked up from one site and then drop it off at any docking station located throughout the city of Birmingham. Councilor’s say bikesharing will reduce congestion in high-traffic areas by allowing commuters to drive into the city together, then bike to individual offices, shops and restaurants. Kiosks will be installed downtown and in the Highland/Avondale Park areas allowing bikers to use a them at a low cost for short periods of time.
