BIRMINGHAM, AL- Do you know what’s being proposed in the upcoming 2016 budget? Here’s your chance to see how the money is being appropriated, and voice your opinions in what you would like to see in the new budget. The annual public budget hearing will take place today at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. Residents who wish to voice their concerns about the budget must sign-up between 4 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. A copy of the proposed budget can be viewed on the city’s website using the following link. In addition to the public budget hearing, the Council will be bringing the budget to the community. Four community town hall meetings will be held during the month of June. During the meetings residents will be presented with an outline of the budget, and they will have the opportunity to ask questions about what is being proposed.
“We are very serious about consistently being transparent with the public about our goals to operate a budget that is fiscally wise,” President Johnathan Austin said. “It is my hope that by taking the budget out into the community, we will provide everyone with a better understanding of what we believe is best for the city.”

708 Goldwire Pl SW, Birmingham, AL 35211
