Birmingham City Council Approves Minimum Wage Increase

Cheers rang out in the Birmingham City Council chamber following the passage of a minimum wage increase that will take effect July 1, 2016. It will increase from $7.25  to $8.50 an hour and then to $ 10.10 per hour July 1, 2017. President Johnathan Austin says the council made a decision to collectively fight for residents to have a livable wage.
