The Best is Yet to Come: Legion Field Undergoing Major Facelift In An Attempt to Revamp the Old Gray Lady
A new scoreboard, revitalized parking operations, and stadium amenities are a few of the numerous changes on the rise at Birmingham’s favorite past time stadium Legion Field, also known fondly to many as the ‘Old Gray Lady’. Today Birmingham City Councilors voted on the consent agenda to approve a resolution approving the appointment of TSE Consulting of North America to provide professional services relative to an audit and development of Sports Strategies at Birmingham Legion Field Stadium. The services will include but not be limited to, the operational review of high demand events such as the Magic City Classic, the current management structure and capabilities for event attraction, and administration development.
In addition to learning more about efforts to attract more events to Legion Field, Councilors were also just as pleased when they received a report from Kevin Moore, Director of Park and Recreation and Stanley Robinson, Public Relations Coordinator concerning the progress that’s being made on the stadium amenities to suit the enormous crowd expected for the upcoming Magic City Classic.
Councilor Steven Hoyt couldn’t contain his accolades and spoke to the great work and leadership as the Park and Recreation Board continues to improve its mission to restore the stadium.
“I’m very proud of the efforts of Kevin Moore and his staff at Legion Field and what they do for the citizens of Birmingham to enjoy the amenities that are offered within the City of Birmingham,” Councilor Hoyt said. “Our city is packed with wonderful parks and recreation centers and it is our job to ensure that resources are in place to keep those facilities up in a manner that the public can take full advantage of all that they have to offer.”
