New Retail Opportunities Demonstrate Birmingham’s Evolving Shopping Scene
Birmingham residents have experienced timeless shopping memories over the years. From department stores such as Pizitz to Aland’s, to shopping malls such as Century Plaza and Eastwood Mall, (and who can forget the countless memories of Parisians) Birmingham holds the title of a city constantly reinventing itself to keep up with the times.
While all great experiences eventually come to an end, many simply evolve into new revitalizations. The Box Row in Avondale is one of those evolutions, as the $4.3 million project will house a true shopper’s vision of galleries, cafes and contemporary boutiques, suited for today’s inventive teenager or working professional.
Slated to open in fall 2016, the new development is set to be located on the site of the former Star Motel on Third Avenue South, not far from the ever so vibrant Lakeview District, that is setting the bar on delicious cuisines and restaurant experience and true Birmingham culture night-life.
Avondale is the retail model for a balanced restaurant and shopping experience, hosting foodies’ top favorites such as Wasabi Juan’s, Avondale Brewery, Saw’s Soul Kitchen, Post Office Pies and other hot spots. With the addition of the Box Row already preleasing out 88 percent according the developer Blue Oak Development, Birmingham’s shopping evolution is certain to transcend for generations to come.
