BIRMINGHAM, AL – As the holidays draw near, and many prepare to spend time with family and friends, there is one group of men and women who will be working to ensure that everyone in Birmingham enjoys a safe holiday. To say thanks to those who work around the clock to protect our city, Birmingham City Councilors will join city leaders TODAY to host the annual Christmas Eve Luncheon at the new West Precinct located at 2236 47th Street Ensley. The luncheon will begin at 12:30 p.m. Councilor Steven Hoyt has participated in this event since it’s inception, and says that each year he looks forward to being able to share his culinary skills for such as good cause.
“We are so fortunate to have so many brave men and women protecting our city day in and day out,” Councilor Hoyt said. “Unlike so many who will get the opportunity to spend their holidays at home, many of our police officers will be spending the holiday protecting our city. It’s only right that we pause before the holidays to say thanks for all that they do, and to show them how much they are appreciated.”
Councilor Hoyt will be preparing his famous fried Turkey, with other city leaders bringing their own special dish to serve as well.
