U.S. Deputy Secretary of Labor Visits Birmingham to Acknowledge Local Minimum Wage Efforts
U.S. Deputy Secretary of Labor Chris Lu made his way into the Magic City to learn more about what’s being done locally to increase minimum wages. His visit comes after Birmingham city Councilors voted to raise minimum wage to $10.10 by 2017 thus making Birmingham the first southern state to raise minimum wage to a level that exceeds the federal level. Secretary Chris Lu – Deputy Secretary, Department of Labor noted that Birmingham is leading the way not only in Alabama but in the entire Southeast in understanding the importance of shared prosperity.
