Cooking With the Council: A Lesson in the Kitchen With Our Seasoned Residents
PRESS RELEASE Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Birmingham is rich in history, and much of that history is due in part to our “seasoned residents.” As the Birmingham City Council looks to continue building on that history, they are looking to learn from some of our senior citizens about their part in creating Birmingham’s past, and what they would like to see for the future. What better way to spark up dialogue than in the kitchen! Beginning today, Councilors will take part in sessions titled, “Cooking with the Council” at nursing homes and assisted living centers around Birmingham.
“I am really looking forward to being able to learn from some of the people that have been so vital in creating the Birmingham that we can get to enjoy today,” Councilor Valerie Abbott said. “So many times we look to meet with our youth as we look for ways to map out our future, but I think it’s equally important to meet with our senior residents to learn from them on what they did to move Birmingham forward.”
