BIRMINGHAM, AL – “I Am My Sister’s Keeper.” That’s the message that Councilor Tyson is spreading as she prepares to host her 2nd session of her Women’s Empowerment Series. As a part of the series Councilor Tyson is meeting with women in public housing to discuss not just ideas for empowerment, but action steps that they can collectively put in place to achieve goals that will benefit both them and their families. The second session will take place TODAY at Loveman Village located at 248 1st Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 352111. Councilor Tyson says she’s looking forward to reaching another group of women who are full of so much potential.
“I’m really looking forward to coming together to both celebrate the progress we have made, and turn our collective focus toward the future, and all we still must do increase the opportunities for women everywhere,” Councilor Tyson said. “Our whole purpose is to educate and inform our citizens on how they can contribute to change in our communities and this series allows us to meet with residents one on one to see how we can connect them to outside resources.”
In addition to Women’s Empowerment, this session will also focus on the recent proposals to rebuild Loveman Village off of Oxmoor Valley. Residents will be asked to take part in a discussion on the outlook of public housing and where they would like to see Loveman Village grow in the future.
“This proposed move will change the entire outlook of so many residents in this community, so it’s vital that they have on input on what’s being planned,” Councilor Tyson said. “I want my residents to know I’m their voice and I’m ready to advocate for them to ensure that their housing needs are met.”
