Birmingham City Councilor Marcus Lundy to Participate in National Baptist Convention Taking Place in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, AL – A huge conference is coming to Birmingham thanks in part to District 9 Councilor Marcus Lundy. The National Baptist Convention of America Int’l, Inc. (NBCA), a fellowship of Baptist churches, will be hosting their annual Congress of Christian Education and Discipleship/Youth and Children’s Convention 2016 in Birmingham, Alabama on June 27 – 30. The conference will take place at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center.
“I am so excited to be apart of a project that will make a positive stamp on our local economy,” Councilor Lundy said. “The history within this conference stretches far and wide, and I’m glad to know that Birmingham will now be apart of their history.”
The four-day convention will consist of workshops, worship services and institute sessions, which are divided into divisions for Pastors, Ministers’, Music and Arts, Adults, Young Adults, Youth, and Children’s Division. Additionally, there will be activities, workshops and worship services taking place for the 4,000 expected to attend. The meeting will be hosted by the Hopewell MB Church in Birmingham, Alabama where Reverend Dr. Timothy Woods is pastor.
The convention will kick off on Monday, June 27, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. with a golf tournament benefiting HBCU’s that will take place at Highland Park Golf Course. At 7:00 p.m. there will be an official opening of the meeting at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center.
