BIRMINGHAM, AL – “Riding with Sheila” kicks back off again this month and for the 4th installment of the series Councilor Sheila Tyson will take an Uber Ride to City Hall for Tuesday’s Council Meeting. An official from Uber’s corporate office will join Councilor Tyson for the ride to learn more about how the new ride sharing service has performed since being approved for business by the Council back in December of 2015. Since then Uber has also expanded it’s services, after reaching an agreement with the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport in April for both pick-up and drop-off. Councilor Tyson who serves on the Transportation Committee said she couldn’t be more satisfied with the results that she has seen thus far.
“This decision by my colleagues and I to provide additional transportation options for our citizens is another example of how dedicated we are to really enhancing the transportation sector in Birmingham,” Councilor Tyson said. “It is so important that as we continue to push for the advancement of our city, that we continue to stay up-to-date with transportation options so that residents along with visitors have viable transportation options to ensure that their stay in Birmingham is accommodating.”
