BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Seventh Annual District 1 Music & Movie Festival returns to District 1 this evening and this year’s festival promises to be even bigger and better featuring something for everyone! The event, hosted by District 1 Councilor Lashunda Scales, is FREE and open to the general public. Gates will open at 5 p.m. in the practice fields behind Huffman High School and the event will begin at 6 p.m. Every year more than 3,000 residents attend the District 1 Music & Movie Festival, which Councilor Scales presents to enhance the quality of life for her constituents and citizens at-large.
“Wholesome, inexpensive activities are hard to find when you’re on a limited budget,” said Councilor Scales further explaining her motivation. “With crime amongst our youth at its highest, and a struggling economy, it is imperative that city leaders engage local businesses and organizations in efforts that provide quality experiences for our children while also offering affordable alternative programs for families.”
The stellar lineup for tonight’s event includes the following: Songstress “Philliipia” featured in Tyler Perry’s Movie: “Family Reunion,” Hip Hop Violinist – Josh Vietti, and LOGAN the Entertainer. Residents are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, picnic baskets, blankets and a great attitude!
