Ready..Set…Zyp!! New Zyp Bike Docking Station Opening Today at Smithfield Library as a Part of Community Celebration
Healthy activities combined with food fun and activities are an awesome way to balance the end of a great weekend. Today, Birmingham City Councilors are joining Zyp Bikeshare, fitness specialists and community vendors, for a day full of excitement at the Smithfield Center Street Celebration opening the newest docking station in front of the Smithfield Public Library at One 8th Avenue W. This event is FREE for the entire family coupled with plenty of power packed health and fitness activities and delicious food that everyone will enjoy! Not to mention music from Hot 107.7, prizes and giveaways, neighborhood bike rides and a celebration performance from A.H. Parker High School Marching Band will be among the top activities.
“I’m excited to see the inclusion of more Zyp bikes in our communities,” Council President Johnathan Austin said. “Citizens need to know that we care about their health and well-being and we can do this by providing them with the best resources.”
About Zyp Bikeshare
Birmingham began its new Bikeshare System in October of 2015, debuting as the first in North America to feature electric-assisted bikes. Kicking off in the heart of the city’s bustling downtown, Bikeshare began with 40 docking stations and 400 bikes, 100 of which are equipped with battery-powered pedal assistance.
