BIRMINGHAM, AL -Exceptional students are always to be commended when excelling, even on the basketball court. For Zikiria Williams, who has achieved over 1,000 points in her basketball career, those efforts will pay off today as she signs for a full ride to Chattahoochee Valley Community College on a full scholarship taking place today at 11am at Jackson Olin High School.
Councilor Marcus Lundy had the privilege of presenting Williams with a milestone achievement award and said he’s proud of Williams’ accomplishments on and off the court. “I am so excited to be at P.D. Jackson Olin High School, we’re celebrating Zikiria Williams as she has set the bar high here in the heart of District Nine,” Councilor Lundy said. “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he, so when our kids strive for achievement and they strive for greatness, it can carry over outside of the classroom to the basketball court and vice versa. Zikiria is probably one of the most prolific scorers in Birmingham City Schools’ history and we are extremely proud of her accomplishments.”
