BIRMINGHAM, AL— The Birmingham City Council is committed to serving every citizen, in every neighborhood, with every dollar, every day! Tonight, the Birmingham City Council will host their 2017 Council Connecting Community Citizens Budget Tour at the Northeast YMCA, 628 Red Lane Road, at 6pm to discuss the Council’s presentation on the Mayor’s proposed budget.
Hundreds poured in over the past year to learn all they could about the overall budget process and what citizens can do to ensure their concerns are heard. “We are accountable for educating citizens and making sure their communities are held to the highest regard, especially through accountability during the budget time,” said Council President Johnathan Austin. “One of the best ways we can truly move the City of Birmingham into a ‘we the people’ form of government is to be more transparent with residents and to inform citizens as to how their tax dollars are being spent on their needs.”

Following the budget tours, the Birmingham City Council will release their budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year addressing the concerns recounted from residents that attended the budget tour meetings.
