BIRMINGHAM, AL— Managing the citizens tax dollars is the duty of the Birmingham City Council and they want to ensure that you are knowledgeable about the entire budget process. Tonight, the Birmingham City Council will host the second stop of the 2017 Council Connecting Community Citizens Budget Tour at the Birmingham Crossplex, 2331 Bessemer Road at 6pm to discuss the Council’s presentation on the Mayor’s proposed budget.

Thousands of residents have poured in over the years at various locations across the city to learn pertinent information about the overall budget process and what citizens can do to ensure their concerns are heard. “It is our responsibility to educate the citizens and ensure that our communities are held to the highest regard, especially during the budget process,” said Council President Johnathan Austin. “One of the best ways we can truly move the City of Birmingham into a ‘we the people’ form of government is to be more transparent with residents and to inform citizens as to how their tax dollars are being spent on their needs.”
