Birmingham City Council to hold Press Conference Tuesday August 1st at 9am Regarding the Council’s 2018 Proposed Budget

BIRMINGHAM, AL— In order to create transparent and positive communications between the Council and residents, the Birmingham City Council will continue its efforts by hosting a press conference to discuss the 2018 proposed budget recommendations which include allocated funding of: $500,000 for the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion; $6.5 million in neighborhoods; $4.6 million for public schools; $2.1 million for public libraries; $2 million for police and $5.1 million for employee raises. Councilors want to better help citizens understand the total budgeting process and adhere to constructive input about what many would like to see implemented in their neighborhoods including the vital resources such as education, neighborhood revitalization and public safety.
