BIRMINGHAM, AL- With the revamp of the Birmingham Airport, now is the perfect
opportunity to highlight areas of economic development that are available within and around the airport. To do this, Birmingham City leaders, along with 21 municipalities, including mayors, councilors, and commissioners from Mobile, Huntsville, and Montgomery will travel to London, England next week for the Farnborough Airshow. During this show, city leaders will have the chance to highlight the cities assets and market their products and services.
“There is a lot of untapped land usage around the airport that can be developed for commercial use, “Council President Johnathan Austin said. “In order for us to see development in this area, we must have supporting casts from suppliers that will want to relocate to our city.”
As a part of the show, Birmingham City officials will present to a host of international suppliers on the lucrative benefits of coming to our city, with the objective of ultimately creating more jobs statewide. With Birmingham being the epi-center of travel due to the growing airport authority, city leaders feel now is the time to seek opportunities that will help the state thrive.
“It is important for us to be present at this showcase, because in the past we have not had a seat at the table,” President Austin said. “This is a monumental opportunity, that will allow us to move forward in producing jobs not only for our city but for the state of Alabama.”
