Trading More Than Trips with Japan
Council President Pro Tem Jay Roberson is continuing his efforts to strengthen international relationships for the city of Birmingham in Japan. The Southeast U.S. Japan Association Conference is held annually to bring Southeastern U.S. government officials and business leaders together with their counterparts in Japan. During the meeting delegates will discuss ideas for trade and investment in both the public and private sectors. Established in 1975, the Southeast U.S. Japan Association or SEUS- promotes trade, investment, understanding and friendship between Japan and seven member states of the Southeastern U.S.. As one of them, Alabama is clearly benefitting from this long term relationship with manufacturers here like Toyota and Honda. As Birmingham continues efforts to reach across the globe to find opportunities, travel is a requirement, on both sides. The Japanese delegation will be here next year as Birmingham hosts the 2015 SEUS conference Nov. 14-16. To hear Council Pro-Tem Roberson discuss his trip WATCH VIDEO.
