Councilor Kim Rafferty races around Barber at 155 mph promoting 2015 Indy Race
The 2015 Indy Car race had a huge economic impact for Birmingham. Past promotions of the event included Mayor Bell driving an indy car in downtown Birmingham, showing the power of the car but also the power of Birmingham’s ability to host such a large event. A good sign when looking ahead to the World Games coming in 2021. Promotion this year for this successful event didn’t involve going 20th Street downtown, Councilor Kim Rafferty instead raced around Barber Motorsports Park at 155 mph. Birmingham no longer hesitates to go full speed ahead attracting big events to the city, Councilor Rafferty seems to have the same mentality.
