Volunteers from around the country join councilors to rehab homes in Birmingham
Restoring Birmingham’s neighborhoods is the city council’s top priority. So councilors are partnering with groups like Metro Changers to help rehab low to moderate-income homes. More than 200 volunteers from as far away as Oklahoma, Illinois and Florida are painting, repairing roofs and doing other light construction. The group recruits volunteers while the city helps gather applicants who may be eligible for repairs.
