Quality Food and New Jobs Land in Downtown Birmingham

The anticipation was at an all time high as hundreds of shoppers eagerly awaited the opening of a first class grocery store downtown. The Birmingham City Council along with downtown residents and workers gathered to cut the green ribbon for the opening of Publix Supermarket. Until now, downtown Birmingham was considered to be a food desert due to the lack of convenient access to fresh foods. Roy Sparks, a worker nearby was one of the first to shop the new grocery store and after shopping in the new store, he says he will be a loyal customer from here on out. For more information about everything the Council is doing visit
