Birmingham City Councilor Sheila Tyson to Host Meeting Regarding Future of Cooper Green Mercy Hospital

BIRMINGHAM, AL— Councilor Sheila Tyson along with the Committee to Save Jefferson County will be hosting an urgent meeting regarding the future of Cooper Green Mercy Hospital. On January 25, the Jefferson County Commission voted to allow the County Manager to begin exploring options about creating a county healthcare authority with the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
The move could impact the way Cooper Green Mercy Hospital operates, Tyson said. The meeting is being called to address concerns about the future of the hospital that serves low-income and indigent patients.
