BIRMINGHAM, AL– The Birmingham City Council voted to appoint a replacement for the vacant District 7 seat as well as vote on a new President Pro Tem on October 23, 2018.
The Council will first appoint a replacement and then, once that person is sworn in and there are nine members, the vote for Pro Tem will take place. A total of 13 people submitted resumes and applications for the open seat. The Council will be conducting interviews for all the candidates on October 18-20.

Charles Crockrom Sr.
Dr. Gertrudis A. Hunter
Robert H. Young
Council President Valerie Abbott said her office would be making an announcing asking for applications to fill the soon-to-be vacated seats in District 1 and District 6 this month. Those seats will be vacated on November 13 when Councilors Lashunda Scales and Sheila Tyson are sworn in as Jefferson County Commissioners.
