On Friday, March 6th, President William Parker and the Birmingham City Council are hosting a community forum with representatives from the Jefferson County Department of Health to discuss the coronavirus and answer questions residents might have.
The community forum will be held at Legion Field — Parks and Recreation boardroom — at 1 p.m. this Friday. The Birmingham City Council has been monitoring the situation and has been in contact with local health officials at the JCDH and UAB in order to relay the most up-to-date information to concerned residents.
“We know that our residents have a lot of questions about the coronavirus and what they can do to stay safe,” Parker said. “The elderly residents, who are at a higher risk, often don’t have access to the internet so we want to give them a chance to hear what health officials are saying about this situation and answer their questions.”
Parker said the Council will be scheduling more informational meetings throughout the city in the coming weeks. Those dates will be forthcoming.
