Birmingham City Council President William Parker is partnering with Clergy Concerned for the Community for a Juneteenth event this Friday, starting at 5:00pm at Linn Park. The community is invited to join in a peaceful march from Linn Park to Kelly Ingram Park. Participants are asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
“The Birmingham City Council is proud to partner with our faith leaders for this peaceful event,” said Parker. “The fact that we are celebrating Juneteenth in the midst of everything that is going on right now in our country makes events like this one even more significant.”
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States.
