This week, the Birmingham Park and Recreation Board will be considering a proposal for additional upgrades to Legion Field. At the Monday meeting, the board will consider a new marquee structure and LED display to replace the existing incandescent marquee that is currently outside of Legion Field on Graymont Avenue.
“This is just part of our commitment to making ongoing improvements at Legion Field,” said Birmingham City Council President William Parker. “Last year, it was replacing the field turf for the first time since 2006. This new proposed electronic signage will communicate upcoming events at Legion Field to the public, as well as other community events and opportunities.”
Parker explained that the signage could also generate revenue from a naming right’s perspective. The goal is to have everything in place before kick-off of the first UAB home football game of the season on Thursday September 3rd.
