COUNCIL PRESIDENT PARKER ENCOURAGING RESIDENTS TO UTILIZE FREE COVID-19 TESTING THIS WEDNESDAY
PRESS RELEASE Monday, July 20, 2020Contact: Kim Garner
On Wednesday, July 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. there will be a free COVID-19 testing site at North Birmingham Homes, 3127 43rd Avenue North, organized by the Alabama Regional Medical Services (ARMS) and the Housing Authority Birmingham District.
As the number of COVID-19 cases in Alabama continue to trend upward, Birmingham City Council President William Parker is encouraging anyone who would like to get tested to utilize this opportunity.
The North Birmingham Homes site is part of the ARMS monthly testing schedule that has been implemented as a way to combat community spread of the virus. Over the last several months, the Birmingham City Council has continued to advocate and partner with organizations to help increase the accessibility to testing throughout all of Birmingham’s 99 neighborhoods.
“Testing is just one of the major components we’re implementing to overcome this virus,” President Parker said. “We also want to continue to educate the public on CDC recommended safety protocols. Any opportunity we have to talk about safety for our community, we should do that. We’re going to continue to open as many test sites as possible throughout our city.”
