On Saturday, workers with the U.S. Census Bureau will at Legion Field for a participation drive at the UAB football game, which starts at 11:30 a.m.
Council President William Parker said that following a Federal Judge’s ruling to extend the 2020 Census deadline to October 31, the City will continue to focus efforts to increase participation.
“It is vital that every single Birmingham resident is counted in Census,” President Parker said. “The data collected will shape the future of our city for years to come. It impacts everything from federal funding to congressional representation. We are going to continue to get the word out in all 99 neighborhoods about the Census and the deadline extension.”
Also during the game this weekend, and throughout the month of October, pink ribbons will adorn the turf at Birmingham’s Legion Field in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Council President William Parker, who chairs the Parks and Recreation Committee, believes it’s important for the City to raise awareness for an issue that impacts so many people.
