Today, the Birmingham City Council is making a final push to maximize Census 2020 participation in Birmingham.

Council President William Parker and Councilor John Hilliard will be partnering with Reverend Harold Bass and local faith leaders for a Census 2020 participation drive and food giveaway at Olivet Monumental Baptist Church.

The event will be happening on Thursday, October 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Olivet Monumental Baptist Church (2516 33rd Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35207). Free boxes of food — meat, fresh vegetables and milk — will be available through a drive thru lane.

Volunteers will be handing out Census 2020 informational packets.

Today is the final day for residents to complete their Census 2020 questionnaires, either by mail, online or by phone, according to the recent ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court.

“Throughout this year we’ve worked tirelessly with neighborhood leaders, community stakeholders, and ministers to help raise awareness about the Census. The Council is making one final push to maximize Census participation in Birmingham so we can keep the Magic City moving forward,” President Parker said.
