On Wednesday evening, Council President William Parker will be hosting a Tele-town Hall Meeting with healthcare professionals and faith leaders to discuss the effects of COVID-19 in Birmingham.
President Parker will be joined by Rev. Dr. James V. Tyus, Jr., pastor of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church (Norwood), Dr. Celeste Reese-Willis, who is overseeing testing at Legion Field, and Sheila Smoot, News Director for Summit Media, who will be moderating the event.
As cases continue to spike, it’s important that everyone have a clear understanding of how to keep themselves and others safe. The discussion will focus on topics such as vaccination distribution plans, disparities in healthcare, and dispelling myths about the health crisis.
“We are grateful to have such an amazing team of doctors and healthcare professionals here in Birmingham who have partnered with us over the course of this public health crisis,” President Parker said. “As vaccines become widely available, it’s going to be crucial that we continue working together and have a plan in place. We will be discussing what that looks like on Wednesday.”
Following the discussion, there will be a Q&A portion in which attendees can ask the panelists questions.
