The Birmingham City Council and the Birmingham Association of Realtors are partnering for an educational campaign highlighting resources available for potential homebuyers – the Brown Bag Series will feature panel discussions with local housing experts and city officials.
The first installment of the series will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The panel discussion will be live streamed to the Birmingham City Council’s and Birmingham Association of Realtors’ Facebook pages.
“We are truly grateful for the work Realtors have done in our communities, educating and providing pathways for our residents to build equity, especially during these trying times,” Council President William Parker said. “I look forward to working together to highlight the resources that residents can access when they are looking to buy a home or with finding rental assistance programs.”
Birmingham Association of Realtors’ Vice President of Government & Legislative Affairs William Baylor outlined why homeownership is vital to Birmingham’s continued growth.
“Whether it’s the absence of a down payment, credit problems, or a lack of knowledge about the home-buying process, these hurdles can seem insurmountable,” Baylor said. “That’s why it’s important to have a realtor help you navigate through the process, and why programs like these present hope.”
Property ownership is your key to building generational wealth and gives you access to participate in the American Dream, said Birmingham Association of Realtors CEO Amanda Creel. The association is proud to stand with, support, and sponsor programs and projects like this with our community partners to provide pathways to homeownership for all.
In addition to detailing pathways to homeownership in Birmingham, these monthly discussions will touch on topics ranging from affordable housing to rental assistance resources. Details for future events will be released as they become available.
