Event Details

The City Council and the Birmingham Planning Commission will have a joint public meeting beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in the City Council Chamber on the Third Floor of Birmingham City Hall.
The purpose of the joint public meeting is to review the progress that has been made toward implementing the City’s Comprehensive Plan since its adoption.  Also, this meeting will go over the Comprehensive Plan’s Five-Year Priority Actions.
After an almost two year public input process, the Birmingham Planning Commission adopted the Comprehensive Plan and the Birmingham City Council has endorsed it. The Comprehensive Plan is a 20-year policy and strategic framework to guide future decisions, affecting our City’s quality of life and economic prosperity.  The Comprehensive Plan establishes goals, policies, strategies, and implementation actions to achieve the plan’s vision for Birmingham’s future. To facilitate the implementation of the City’s Comprehensive Plan, a 21-member Implementation Committee was formed and it includes members of the Planning Commission, business community, non-profit organizations, community leaders and other stakeholders.
