Councilor Clinton Woods invites residents to Huffman High School Jersey Retirement Ceremony for Stanley Robinson

Press Release February 7, 2024

On Wednesday, February 7th, Huffman High School will be honoring the life and legacy of Stanley Robinson, the former Mr. Basketball in Alabama who passed away in 2020 at the age of 32.

The jersey retirement ceremony will take place at Huffman High School at 6:30 p.m. Following the ceremony, the Vikings Boys Basketball Team will be playing Gardendale High School for the Area 11 Championship.

Robinson played college basketball for the UConn Huskies and went on to play most of his professional career in South America.

Councilor Clinton Woods, who represents the district, said this will be a moment to reflect on the life of a young man who helped lay a foundation for the school’s athletic programs that brought home the 6A Boys Basketball State Championship trophy in 2020.

“Stanley Robinson was a pillar in this community and was an example to all the young people here – showing them what can be accomplished when they set goals for themselves and execute that at the highest level,” Councilor Woods said. “It’s important for us to take a moment and reflect on his life and the impact he made on this community.”
